The SITH of Eden: Grey

Grey looks like a 'grey' alien with six digits per limb. He is an artist and artesan who perpetually has callouses, stone chips, paint and dye stains on his body. Grey spends most of his time in the shadows or underground. His appearance would cause a complete 'grey aliens' hysteria so he stays well hidden.

Excerpt from The Veil of Eden

At the edge of Vada's senses, the mind of Grey Sith emerges. Grey, named for his similarity to a mythological alien, lives in the underground caverns and tunnels of the family estates. The dark, cool & moist environment is more suited to his acute senses. The caverns afford him with natural raw material for his sculptures as well.

'Hello, Grey,' Vada imparts.

Grey does summersaults in his mind but shows little emotion on his facial features. Vada's stride takes her another step closer. She marvels at how well Grey controls all twelve fingers as he cares for Zerstorer's body which now comes into view. Zerstorer is lying comatose on a cot in a large cavern underneath Solitress, the family estate in Ohio.

Grey has just finished bathing his unconscious brother while preparing a warm meal for him. Looking into their minds, Vada sees that Grey is monitoring Zerstorer's progress. When in the course of the dream Zerstorer eats, Grey will feed him. His body will respond to the thoughts and smells. The rest of the time, he is giving him water with a sponge.

'Is this what Xanth calls justice?' she imparts.

«I care for my brother.» Grey signs with finality.

Vada is able read Grey's thoughts but he chose to sign his response. It is also a sign that he wishes not to discuss it. Grey is a telepath - and the only one besides Xanth and Amber who can receive odd waves like radio. But Grey is a mute. He can only communicate with his hands and his mind to other telepaths. Most of his expression is resolved through his unabashed artworks.

Vada normally opens her mind to Grey, but she can't afford that today. She has difficulty enough hiding things from Xanth without spreading her liability. Vada switches to Ameslan so as not to offend his sense of privacy. Besides, she senses that he really does not know all that has transpired here.

«You'll not want to be here when Zerstorer awakens,» Vada signs.

Grey stops cleaning Zerstorer. He walks over to his small campfire and adjusts Zerstorer's supper. He looks once at Vada with his expressionless face then leaves. His emotions overwhelm her for a moment but she manages to not let it show. She waits until Grey's mind is long gone before opening the floodgates of tears.
