The GEAR of Eden: Neuralization
Neuralization is a process in which thought and memory are added to a structure. Cruder systems involve working shapes and natural grain patterns into the design. More advanced neuralization is used by the aliens aboard the ITC Carceri and the ISS Protector and by Amber Sith.
The aliens use actual nervelike fibers in hulls, tubing and virtually any structure that would benefit from such technology. Regulators are attached to the nerves networked into the structure which are interfaced with the central Biologic Calculating Intelligence. Such neuralization not only repels impact and restores shape, but works to pump or regulate fluid flow throughout the ship.
Amber's neuralization goes even further: neuralization becomes an extension of the mind when psionically interfaced. The neuralized object is then an extension of the body - like an arm.

As she does this, her mind interfaces with the synthetic ganglia that she grew in the mirror and activates the anachrona.

Dinar looks at the regulator for the neuralized flowtubing again - it's a pituitary regulator instead of a standard gangliar one. That's highly unusual and expensive for a neuralized flowtube on a civilian ship.
